Using real clay brick as a surface medium and a “Massachusetts” scalloped picket fence, we created a comforting courtyard that is intersected by the walkway to Inghamdale’s main entrance. We set the bricks in a classic herringbone pattern, softening the look with clipped boxwood hedges and liriope ground cover. We added perennials for a splash of color. The focal point of the courtyard is an armillary sphere (an astronomical model) set on a pedestal.
